I realized a long time ago that there was more healing and self awakening that I yearned for. I was lucky to find an wonderful healer who I’ve work with for over two decades. My work with her lead me to “A Society of Souls” and their school for “Non Dual Healing and Awakening”. My training there was truly the most profound experience of my life. At the beginning of this four year program, my goal was self-healing. During the twenty years I’ve been a healer, I’ve aspired to do my own healing so I could be a better healer for my clients and students. I knew this program would help me do this. By the end of my four years of study, I knew I wanted to share Non Dual Healing with others and have incorporated it into my healing practice.
A Recent Confirmation of Reiki going Mainstream
Recently a student who had recently taken Level I training came in for a Reiki session. She told me that she has been giving Reiki treatments to many of her clients. I asked her what field she was in expecting to hear something to do with health care. Surprisingly she said accounting! I thought to myself wow Reiki is really going mainstream!
Who was Iris Ishikuro? She was not only one of Takata’s twenty-two Master students but a very important person in the history of Reiki and it’s spread in the United States.
Iris was a relative of Mrs. Hawyo Takata, the woman responsible for bringing Reiki to the west through Hawaii. When Mrs. Takata died in 1980, Iris decided not to abide by the oath she took when Mrs. Takata mastered her: the oath of charging ten thousand dollars to Master someone. Iris Ishikuro mastered only two people, her daughter Ruby and Arthur Robinson who lived in the states.
More than one concerning Reiki Story
During the past week, two people came in for healing sessions. Both had a Reiki story about a recent training experience that concerns me. Since Reiki is not regulated, (and should not be) perspective students need to be aware of what is taught in a class and some of the misinformation out there.
When I found out one of my former Master students taught in an inappropriate way, I immediately decided to write my first blog article, “Fast Food Reiki.” In all my classes, I passionately express how important I believe it is to follow teaching traditions that were handed down to us. In this article, I will further discuss the way a potential Reiki student may be misled on the beginning of their Reiki journey. [Read more…] about Reiki Student “Beware”
