What to Look for in Reiki Master Training
These are all the things to look for when finding a teacher for Reiki Master Training.
I’ve previously written about the pitfalls of compressed Reiki training for the beginning levels, likening them to a fast food meal. Equally important to fully digest is Reiki Master Training. It is common today to see ART and Master Training offered as a three – day intensive training. In my experience, this is not the way to learn this final, important level.
What is involved in Reiki Master Training?
When a student goes on to become a Reiki Master, it is usually because he or she wants to train others. Teaching is a complicated process. It is the Reiki Master’s job to thoroughly school her students in all aspects of teaching this wonderful healing art. She must make sure that the materials given to students are accurate, inclusive and easy to understand. Also important is mastering and being able to administer attunements.
What is the most effective way to learn to be a Reiki Master?
Just as with the beginning levels of training, it is important to take time to thoroughly learn how best to teach each level of Reiki. The attunements can be the most challenging part of becoming a Reiki Master. Training is best done on an ongoing basis which allows the student to thoroughly learn an attunement with plenty of practice time, both in the class and later at home.
With all levels of training, my intent is to be a mentor to my students. My Reiki Master Training consists of five consecutive months. We meet a half-day, concentrating on one level at a time. For example, we spend a session on the Level I class. The structure and materials are given out. The attunement is demonstrated and students practice on one another with my help until they feel comfortable. Before the following class, students have time at home to become familiar with the attunement lesson and then come back, review and practice it in the class.
My students receive many documents written in a simple easy-to- follow format. They are given a step-by-step guide for the attunment preparation and a tutorial for each of the four attunements. Additionally, students are given every document they will use for teaching in printed and emailed file. My goal is to have my Reiki Masters ready to teach every level upon completion of training. To accomplish this, I help them organize materials so that minimal preparation is necessary.
I hope this article has been helpful in guiding you on your journey to Reiki Master Training.
