The length and breadth of Donna’s experience contribute toward making her Reiki sessions special. Significantly, she has been practicing Reiki for over twenty years. Moreover, Donna has treated people with a wide variety of conditions ranging from Anxiety to Fibromyalgia. One of her main specialties is working with Cancer patients. For many years she volunteered at the Hewlett House “One in Nine,” program, sponsored by The Long Island Breast Cancer Coalition. Why is Self-Care for Reiki Practitioners Important?

Reiki Practitioners often primarily focus on the needs of their clients. This is expected, but equally important is their own well – being. My Reiki Master, Eileen Marder-Mirman, (http://eileenmardermirman.com) urged her students at all levels to be “doing their own healing”. What does this mean? It means healing yourself on as many levels as possible. The more one heals themselves, the more she can be there for her clients and students. Consider what they say on an airplane in case of emergency, put your own oxygen mask on first. Think about an onion with it many layers. If peeled back slowly and skillfully you will get deeper into yourself and the more you do so, the clearer your channel will be for healing others.

Reiki in hospitals has been used for many years probably mostly by patients requesting practitioners to come in and give them sessions. The noted heart surgeon, Dr. Memet Oz was probably the first to have Reiki performed in his operating room back in 1995. Reiki has come a long way since then and is used in many hospitals including:

What is Medical Reiki?

Medical Reiki is simply Reiki that is used in hospitals and other medical facilities to help patients. Hospitals such as Sloan Kettering, Tucson Medical, GW University, Yale, and Beth Israel have all opened their arms to Reiki. Columbia Presbytarian is best known for integrating Reiki into their hospital through the efforts of Dr.Memet Oz. Dr. Oz had a healer named Julie Motz in his operating room back in 1995.
